Main Draw Opens at FIP Bronze Banten 2026 as Lasahido Leads the Home Charge

The main draw of FIP Bronze Banten 2026 began on Friday, 17 July at Dewa United Padel, with the men's and women's first rounds — 32 matches in total — reducing both fields to the last sixteen. The seeds largely held firm, but Indonesian pairs carved out several places in the second round.

Zar Lasahido, playing with eighth seeds' partner Omar Salem (HUN), gave the home crowd the men's result of the day. The pair recovered from losing the opening set to beat Jasha Saas (NED) and Taiga Sherr-Oshima (JPN) 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3, saving the match in a second-set tiebreak before pulling clear in the decider — the longest men's match of the round.

Two more three-setters lit up the men's draw. Seventh seeds Christian Didier Chin Zao Quan and Wee Ming Hock Vincent Jones Jr (MAS) edged Zhanibek Umbetov and Rodion Pak (KAZ) 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, while lucky losers Aldiyar Muzdybayev and Zhakas Kozbak (KAZ) beat qualifiers Andreu Girona Pascual (ESP) and Muhamad Tito Zuhda Irhami 6-4, 7-5.

The top four men's seeds advanced without alarm. Top seeds Miguel Melero Bernal (ESP) and Nicolas Zurita (ITA) needed just 12 games, taking a double bagel against wild cards Rizky Nursasongko Gunri and Mickra Hans Azly Pasha, and fourth seeds Pablo Pastor Landaburu (ESP) and Kevin Uriel Kviatkovski (ARG) did the same to David Quiros Peiro and Tamrin Bayazid Sinardi. Second seeds Julian Prins and Youp De Kroon (NED) and fifth seeds Carlos Marti and Marc Bernils Garcia (ESP) both came through in straight sets.

Indonesia had winners across the men's draw. Brothers Armando and Giorgio Soemarno beat Singgih Ario Suselo and Jeremy Juanito 6-1, 6-1, Mike Tanoso and Christian Alvin Edison saw off Omar Sumar and Manav Sreekumar (IND) 6-1, 6-4, I Putu Anandana Adi Guna and Ahmad Baidzuri beat Neils Koesoemahadi and Indra Wahyu Anshari 6-3, 6-1, and Erwan Wiyono, playing with Ivan Montes Balleste (ESP), advanced 6-2, 6-2. Qualifiers Muhammad Rafly and Muhammad Al Furqan reached the last sixteen when their all-qualifier tie against Jose Antonio Macia Herrera and Enrique Cano Ferrandiz (ESP) ended in retirement in the first set.

In the women's draw the top seeds were similarly untroubled. Top seeds Victoria Kurz (GER) and Marcella Koek (NED) beat Vivien Silfany (PHI) and Kintan Pratiwi Anwar Anwar 6-0, 6-3, and the second, third, fourth and fifth seeds all advanced comfortably. Sixth seeds Jessica Lucinda Palma La Cruz (VEN) and Fitriani Sabatini dropped just one game against Florence Nicole and Dian Mayasari.

The standout home story on the women's side came from Christine Caroline Watupongoh and Samantha Edison, who saved a second-set tiebreak wobble to beat Reinata Agnes Sidik and Intan Purnama 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-2 — the only women's first-round match to go the distance. Fitriana Sabrina, playing with Kholisa Siti Maisaroh, also advanced, beating wild cards Nasywaa Rihadatul Aisy and Tiara Regita 6-0, 6-1.

The last sixteen in both draws will be played on Saturday, alongside the quarter-finals.
