Two medals on the final day
Indonesia ended padel's first-ever Asian Games with two medals in the women's pairs event, a silver and a bronze, on Saturday 3 October 2026 at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center.
Fadona Kusumawati and Fitriani Sabatini won silver after falling to Japan's Saki Tsukamoto and Kae Tokumoto in the gold-medal match, 6-3 6-4. Earlier in the day, Novela Putria and Beatrice Gumulya opened the final-day programme by beating the Philippines' Danna Abad and Joshea Malazarte 6-0 6-0 to claim bronze.
The final
Kusumawati and Sabatini arrived in the final on the back of one of the most dominant runs of the tournament. They had conceded only two games in three matches, including a 6-0 6-1 quarter-final win over the top seeds Sato and Ozawa and a 6-0 6-0 semi-final win over Abad and Malazarte.
Tsukamoto and Tokumoto, winners of the inaugural FIP Asia Padel Cup and backed by a packed home crowd, proved a step too far. The Japanese pair won in two sets to claim Japan's first women's padel gold at the Asian Games.
Speaking to the FIP after the medal ceremony, Kusumawati and Sabatini said they were delighted with silver. "We made history and that is incredible," they said.
It was a remarkable achievement for a pair who had been named as the reserve women's pair when PBPI announced its Asian Games squad in July.
Bronze for Putria and Gumulya
Third seeds Putria and Gumulya, who had led Indonesia's women's programme throughout 2026, bounced back from their 6-1 6-3 semi-final defeat to Tsukamoto and Tokumoto in emphatic fashion, winning the bronze-medal match without dropping a game. Their run in Nagoya also included wins over Iran's Fard and Kahrizi (6-3 6-1) and Hong Kong's Chan and Law (6-1 6-2).
The medal ceremony
The medals were presented by Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia; Luigi Carraro, President of the International Padel Federation; Mutsumi Teranishi, Vice President of the Asian Games and Asian Para Games Promotion League of the Aichi Prefectural Assembly; and Koji Nakatsuka, President of the Japan Padel Association.
Men's event: gold for Qatar
In the men's event, Qatari brothers Mashari and Rashed Naif won gold with a 6-3 6-1 victory over Malaysia's Christian Chin and Aidan Yunus. Iran's Farsad Shahi and Amirmohammad Jamshidi took bronze after winning the all-Iranian match against Golestan and Roghani, 6-3 6-4. Qatar will host the next Asian Games in 2030.

What comes next
Indonesia leaves Japan as the only nation with two pairs on a single podium in Nagoya.
The national team now turns its attention to the Padel World Cup Qualifiers, with the World Cup finals scheduled for early November. The women's side, bronze medallists at the FIP Asia Padel Cup 2025 and now Asian Games silver and bronze medallists, will go into that campaign with real momentum.
This is the final part of PBPI's three-part series on Indonesia's Asian Games padel campaign.
