Indonesia into the women's final
Indonesia will play for gold. On Friday 2 October, Fadona Kusumawati and Fitriani Sabatini beat the Philippines' Danna Abad and Joshea Malazarte 6-0 6-0 in the first women's semi-final at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center.
It was the latest chapter in a remarkable run. Across their three matches in Nagoya, the seventh seeds have now conceded just two games, including their 6-0 6-1 quarter-final win over the top seeds.
Putria and Gumulya into the bronze-medal match
In the other women's semi-final, Japan's second seeds Saki Tsukamoto and Kae Tokumoto beat Novela Putria and Beatrice Gumulya 6-1 6-3. Tokumoto told the FIP she hoped spectators had seen that powerful shots alone are not enough to win at padel.
Putria and Gumulya will now face Abad and Malazarte in the bronze-medal match, giving Indonesia two medal matches on the final day.
Men's event
Malaysia reached the men's final after a comeback. Third seeds Christian Chin and Aidan Yunus lost the opening set 6-1 to Iran's second seeds Farsad Shahi and Amirmohammad Jamshidi, before turning the match around to win 1-6 6-4 6-1. Chin told the FIP the experience felt incredible and that the pair would enjoy the moment.
