Two Indonesian pairs on one podium
The final day of padel at the XX Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, Saturday 3 October, ended with Indonesia holding two of the three places on the women's podium. Fadona Kusumawati and Fitriani Sabatini won silver and Novela Putria and Beatrice Gumulya won bronze. No other nation placed two pairs on a single podium.
Women's bronze-medal match
Putria and Gumulya opened the day at 11am in emphatic fashion. Bouncing back from their semi-final defeat, the third seeds beat the Philippines' Danna Abad and Joshea Malazarte 6-0 6-0 without dropping a game.
Their run in Nagoya: a 6-3 6-1 win over Iran's Fard and Kahrizi, a 6-1 6-2 win over Hong Kong's Chan and Law, a 6-1 6-3 semi-final defeat to Japan's Tsukamoto and Tokumoto, and the 6-0 6-0 bronze-medal win.
Women's gold-medal match
Kusumawati and Sabatini went into the final having conceded only two games in three matches. Japan's second seeds Saki Tsukamoto and Kae Tokumoto, winners of the inaugural FIP Asia Padel Cup and backed by a full home crowd, ended that run with a 6-3 6-4 win to claim Japan's first women's gold in Asian Games padel.
The Indonesians said afterwards that they were very happy with silver. "We made history and that is incredible," they told the FIP.
Men's medal matches
Iran's Farsad Shahi and Amirmohammad Jamshidi won the all-Iranian bronze-medal match against Hami Golestan and Arya Roghani, 6-3 6-4.
In the men's gold-medal match, Qatar's top seeds Mashari and Rashed Naif beat Malaysia's Christian Chin and Aidan Yunus 6-3 6-1. Mashari called the win almost unreal. Chin dedicated Malaysia's silver to everyone at home who believed in the pair.
