FIP Bronze Banten 2026: Moura and Yesyurun Stun Fifth Seeds in Qualifying Round Two

The second round of men's qualifying at FIP Bronze Banten 2026 cut the field in half on Wednesday, 15 July at Dewa United Padel, and it took the tournament's longest match of the week so far to remove one of the top seeds.

João Moura (POR) and Kenneth Legacy Yesyurun produced the result of the day, recovering from an opening-set tiebreak defeat to eliminate fifth seeds Michael Leonard Sungkono and Rafael Jose Soesilo 6-7(3), 7-5, 7-5. Both closing sets went the distance, the unseeded pair breaking at the death on each occasion to book a place in the third qualifying round.

Sixth seeds Muh Rezky Jabir Kiki and Raid Rahmat Laleno Mamat came within two points of joining them on the way out. Facing Indonesian wild cards Setyadi Bagus Laksono and Wijaya Rindosa, they took the opening set 7-5, lost the second 3-6, and then survived an extraordinary deciding tiebreak 7-6(9) to escape.

Andreu Girona Pascual (ESP) and Muhamad Tito Zuhda Irhami also came from a set down, beating Athallah Firdianto and Bagas Pratama Saputra 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, while wild cards Andre Aristio Andre and Giovanni Wijaya recovered from a second-set tiebreak collapse to see off Attrial Ismail and Zefanya Jagad Listianto 6-2, 6-7(1), 6-3.

Tuesday's wild card heroes found the second round a different proposition. Febry Ramadhan Hidayat and Pambudi Elsa Wiguna, who had toppled the seventh seeds on the opening day, were beaten 6-0, 6-1 by Saul Serna Rafael (ESP) and Madhiva Ananda Syahmir.

With the exception of the fifth seeds, the seeded pairs held their positions. Top seeds Aldiyar Muzdybayev and Zhakas Kozbak (KAZ) beat Brilliant Rahadian Bahtiar and Samuel Nanere 7-5, 6-1 after a testing opener, and second seeds Muhammad Nuzhul Patoreang Ijul and Afullah Muhsyarif Aul advanced 6-4, 6-2. Fourteenth seeds Viktor Vostretsov (RUS) and Tiago Vallejos (ARG) were the most emphatic of the day with a 6-0, 6-0 win, and twelfth seeds Jose Antonio Macia Herrera and Enrique Cano Ferrandiz (ESP) conceded just one game. Eighth seeds Deni Zuliansyah and Ahmed Al Barwani (OMA), ninth seeds Kian Rezaee (IRI) and Wisam Khairi (IRQ), tenth seeds Ollie Bartosh (NZL) and Francisco Mendieta Ruiz (COL), eleventh seeds Nurassyl Sultambekov and Danir Kaldybekov (KAZ) and thirteenth seeds Muhammad Rafly and Muhammad Al Furqan all came through in straight sets. Fifteenth seeds Taufik Tri Wahyuda and Akses Dwiki Pamundi advanced without hitting a ball, receiving a walkover from alternates Abdullah Al Barwani and Younis Al Rawahi (OMA).

Two more Indonesian pairs progressed on their own merit. Nurizscky Maulana Hamzah and Rusmiputro Ali Harsya edged Raditya Kirana Rianto and Suhardika Rizqi Mahendra 7-6(3), 6-3, having reached the second round when the third seeds withdrew a day earlier.

Qualifying reaches its climax on Thursday, when the third round and the final qualifying round are played back to back and four pairs earn their places in the main draw.
