The second round of men's qualifying at the FIP Bronze Jakarta 2026 produced one of the most turbulent days of the tournament so far, as three of the top eight seeds were sent packing on Wednesday, 8 July at Rana Grounds Mampang, South Jakarta.
The headline result belonged to Indonesian wild cards Wijaya Rindosa and Setyadi Bagus Laksono. Facing second seeds Michael Leonard Sungkono and Muhammad Rafly, the pair dropped the opening set 3-6 before turning the match on its head, closing it out 6-4, 6-3 to reach the third qualifying round.
Spanish duo Jose Antonio Macia Herrera and Aitor Ribera announced themselves with equal force, edging seventh seeds Muhammad Revan Alkautsar and Taufik Tri Wahyuda in a three-set war of attrition, 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-1 — the beginning of a run that would eventually carry them into the main draw. Thirteenth seeds Raditya Kirana Rianto and Suhardika Rizqi Mahendra also fell, comprehensively dismissed 6-1, 6-0 by Akses Dwiki Pamundi and Spain's Daniel Padillo Formenti. Fourteenth seeds Jan Guerrero (ESP) and Ahmad Ahdal (KSA) were beaten 6-1, 6-4 by Taoufik Salhi (NED) and Stephen Djayadinata.
Elsewhere the seeds held firm. Fourth seeds Eduard Altimires Ros (ESP) and Skar Revilla eased past alternates Kemal Mawira and Angga Saputra 6-2, 6-3; eighth seeds Ollie Bartosh (NZL) and Francisco Mendieta Ruiz (COL) were ruthless against wild cards Bugi Setiawan and Muhammad Ghaffaar Al Bukhary, winning 6-1, 6-0; eleventh seeds Nicolas Maiso Pablos and Enrique Cano Ferrandiz (ESP) advanced 6-1, 6-2; twelfth seeds Viktor Vostretsov and Tiago Vallejos (ARG) won 6-0, 6-2; fifteenth seeds Indra Wahyu Anshari and Muhamad Tito Zuhda Irhami came through a scare to win 6-0, 3-6, 6-2; and sixteenth seeds Dyvac Akbar and Reno Sultan progressed 6-2, 6-3. Ninth seeds Mohamed Elzayat (EGY) and Muh Alief Rezky Supriyadi advanced without hitting a ball, receiving a walkover against France's Yannick Faucard and Jonathan Farbos John.
The day also delivered three-set drama among the unseeded ranks. Joan Farré Aguilera and Jaime De Las Heras (ESP) recovered from a set down to see off compatriot Saul Serna Rafael and Madhiva Ananda Syahmir 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-4, while Daffa Arifin Rohman and Moh Ikhmal Hisham Rizaldy survived a second-set tiebreak collapse to beat Kurnia Junaidi and Mazza Hadaduzzikra 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-1. Yoga Pinasatria and Atev Figosutansyah likewise rallied from a set down against Dhimas Rivai Arganata and Rexy Ibrahimovic, prevailing 2-6, 7-6(6), 6-2.
Completing the day's winners, Josep Just Bertran and Borja Benítez Salvatierra (ESP) — who would go on to qualify for the main draw — brushed aside wild cards Vitto Alexander and Felix Lesmana 6-1, 6-1, and Yogi Ardiansyah and Yoga Argi Saputra defeated Asmelio Ramdiko and Skiva Merlano Sumual 6-3, 6-2.
