FIP Bronze Jakarta 2026: Indonesia Reaches Both Semi-finals as Sabrina and Sabatini Storm Through

Saturday, 11 July was the day the FIP Bronze Jakarta 2026 narrowed to its final four, with 24 matches — the Round of 16 and quarter-finals in both draws — packed into a single session at Rana Grounds Mampang, South Jakarta. Indonesia will be represented in both semi-finals.

Armando Soemarno and Marc Bernils Garcia (ESP) produced the men's run of the day. They ended the extraordinary journey of Spanish qualifiers Jose Antonio Macia Herrera and Aitor Ribera 6-4, 6-2 in the last 16, then dismissed fellow qualifiers Josep Just Bertran and Borja Benítez Salvatierra 6-4, 6-2 in the quarter-finals — closing the book on the qualifying story that had defined the week's first half.

Irfandy Hendrawan and Juan Carlos Gama Gonzalez (ESP) matched them, beating Sean Zachary Lo Escoto and Aziz Khan (HKG) 6-3, 6-2 before overcoming Valentinus Wibawa and Iván Montes Balleste 6-1, 6-4 in the quarter-finals.

The top two seeds were pushed harder than expected. Top seeds Cristobal Garcia Blanco (ESP) and Diego Arredondo García (MEX) cruised past Muhammad Nuzhul Patoreang Ijul and Afullah Muhsyarif Aul 6-1, 6-1, but were then taken to three sets by sixth seeds Carlos Marti and Justin Kuo, surviving 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-3. Second seeds Pablo Pastor Landaburu and Kevin Uriel Kviatkovski (ARG) needed a third-set tiebreak to see off Sergi Nogueras Lorenzo and Valentino Acosta Kremnitzer 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(3), then dropped the opening set to Jose Antonio Arcos and Giorgio Soemarno before rallying 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.

Indonesian hopes elsewhere in the men's draw ended in the last 16. Mike Tanoso and Christian Alvin Edison, conquerors of the third seeds, fell 4-6, 4-6 to Wibawa and Montes Balleste, while Neils Koesoemahadi and Bryan Husin lost 0-6, 4-6 to Arcos and Giorgio Soemarno.

The women's story belonged to the all-Indonesian seventh seeds. Fitriana Sabrina and Fitriani Sabatini destroyed Florence Nicole and Angelica Wiratama 6-0, 6-0 in the last 16 — a second consecutive double bagel — then beat Jessy Rompies and Arrum Damarsari 6-4, 6-1 to reach the semi-finals. Rompies and Damarsari had produced the upset of the women's day, coming from a set down to eliminate fourth seeds Alba Gallardo Salvado (ESP) and Melati Anhar 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

The other three women's semi-final places went to seeds. Top seeds Sandra Bellver Fructuoso (ESP) and Novela Putria conceded just two games in the last 16 against Meutia Rahmarianti Maharani and Rida Andriana Prisilia, then beat eighth seeds Ni Putu Armini and Fadona Kusuma 6-2, 6-4. Second seeds Dora Chamli (TUN) and Anastasiia Ryzhova (RUS) swept aside Nasywaa Rihadatul Aisy and Tiara Regita 6-1, 6-0 before beating fifth seeds Chifumi Sato (JPN) and Alejandra Aygües Lezana (ESP) 6-2, 6-2. Third seeds Elsa Terranova (ITA) and Angelina Neizvestnaya (RUS) were the most ruthless of all, dropping four games across two matches.

The semi-finals and finals take place on Sunday.
