FIP Bronze Jakarta 2026: Four Pairs Punch Their Ticket to the Main Draw as Women's Qualifying Begins

Thursday, 9 July was decision day at the FIP Bronze Jakarta 2026, with the third and final rounds of men's qualifying compressed into a single session at Rana Grounds Mampang, South Jakarta. By nightfall, four pairs had earned their place in the main draw — and three of them carried the Spanish flag.

Josep Just Bertran and Borja Benítez Salvatierra produced the most resilient performance of the day. Having cruised past Taoufik Salhi (NED) and Stephen Djayadinata 6-2, 6-2 in the third round, they dropped the opening set of their qualifying decider against ninth seeds Mohamed Elzayat (EGY) and Muh Alief Rezky Supriyadi before recovering to win 3-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Fourth seeds Eduard Altimires Ros (ESP) and Skar Revilla were the model of consistency, dispatching sixteenth seeds Dyvac Akbar and Reno Sultan 6-3, 6-4 in the third round before overcoming eleventh seeds Nicolas Maiso Pablos and Enrique Cano Ferrandiz 6-3, 6-2 to qualify. Maiso Pablos and Cano Ferrandiz had themselves produced the round's most emphatic result, ousting eighth seeds Ollie Bartosh (NZL) and Francisco Mendieta Ruiz (COL) 6-1, 6-3.

Jose Antonio Macia Herrera and Aitor Ribera completed the Spanish trio. The unseeded pair edged twelfth seeds Viktor Vostretsov and Tiago Vallejos (ARG) in a tight third-round contest, then ended the run of Indonesian wild cards Setyadi Bagus Laksono and Wijaya Rindosa 6-4, 6-2 in the qualifying round. The wild cards, who had eliminated the second seeds a day earlier, bowed out with credit after seeing off Yoga Pinasatria and Atev Figosutansyah 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 in the third round.

Indonesia's sole qualifiers were fifteenth seeds Indra Wahyu Anshari and Muhamad Tito Zuhda Irhami. They controlled Daffa Arifin Rohman and Moh Ikhmal Hisham Rizaldy 6-4, 6-1, then denied Joan Farré Aguilera and Jaime De Las Heras (ESP) 6-3, 6-3 to reach the main draw. Farré Aguilera and De Las Heras had arrived there the hard way, surviving a deciding-set tiebreak against Akses Dwiki Pamundi and Daniel Padillo Formenti 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5).

Ninth seeds Elzayat and Supriyadi came through the day's tightest match, taking both sets against Yogi Ardiansyah and Yoga Argi Saputra in tiebreaks, 7-6(5), 7-6(4), before falling at the final hurdle.

The women's draw also opened on Thursday. Samantha Edison and Angela Stefani Nangin got the campaign under way with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Berllian Marsheilla and Kho Jeanny Wibowo, while Jessica Johan and Siti Sarah advanced by walkover against Intan Purnama and Serly Nur Putri.

The men's main draw begins on Friday.
